Transmission Replacement Costs
We Specialize in San Antonio Vehicle Transmission Replacement
Replacing a transmission on your car can be costly, difficult and extremely inconvenient, especially if you need your automobile daily to get back and forth to work, to shuttle children to their activities or for any of several other reasons.
And if you take good care of your car, and the transmission under the hood, the good news is that you may never need to actually deal with this type of costly repair. Or at least not for a very long time. But if you’ve taken your car to the mechanic and he’s told you that your transmission needs to either be rebuilt or replaced, then chances are good that you should take care of this pressing issue sooner rather than later.
Average Rebuilds - $2500-$3500.00
WHY TRANSMISSIONS NEED REPLACEMENT
Is Your Car Trying to Tell You Something?
"Often times when transmissions get to the point where they need to be replaced, it’s because car owners have chosen to ignore signs that there’s a problem. If your car is giving you signals, listen to it and deal with any issues immediately, thus decreasing the chances of a breakdown in the near future."

A few ways you can prevent a major transmission repair or rebuild include:
Listen To Your Car At Startup. If you hear grinding or loud rumbling when the transmission shifts, this could be a sign that your transmission is failing. Furthermore, if you notice grinding or slipping into gears, have it looked at right away. This could mean you’re in need of a transmission overhaul. But the sooner you diagnose the problem, the greater your chances of escaping an extremely costly bill.
Check For Leaks Frequently. Transmission fluid is meant to actually stay in your car’s transmission. So if you see a leak on your driveway and you suspect it’s coming from the transmission, it’s time to take your car in for a proper checkup. Early detection can make the difference between having a minor repair bill and having to completely replace your transmission. One is relatively simple and inexpensive, while the other could be quite painful to your pocketbook.
Smell Any Potential Problems. If you’re noticing bitter or burnt smells under the hood, check your transmission fluid as soon as possible. If that’s where you suspect the problem is coming from, take it to the auto shop immediately for diagnosis. Healthy transmission fluid is bright red in color, so a cloudy or brown color is a sure sign that something is wrong. As with other issues mentioned above, early attention to this matter could be the difference between a small problem and a much larger and expensive one.
